Colonial Granada & Isletas Boat Tour

COLONIAL GRANADA & ISLETAS BOAT TOUR

The Spanish Colonial City of Granada was founded in 1524 by the Conquistador Hernandez de Cordoba and is thought to be the oldest European settlement on the American continent.  Picturesque and colorful, Granada is the home of many fine examples of restored colonial-era architecture and it is the hub of Nicaraguan tourism.

We will take you on a short ride to Las Isletas (tiny islands) of Lake Nicaragua where we will embark on a leisurely boat tour.  Las Isletas were formed twenty thousand years ago, when an enormous debris avalanche from the northeast flank of Volcán Mombacho formed an archipelago of 365 tiny lava rock islands in Lake Nicaragua (Colibolca), close to what is now Granada.

Next, we will return to Colonial Granada for a lovely lunch in the bustling city center, (drinks and lunch are not included in the price of this tour).  After lunch, you will have a chance to take a step-back-in-time and stroll the historic cobblestone streets that surround the Colonial Central Plaza.  You will visit the Chocolate Museum and enjoy homemade chocolate samples .  Also, included is a visit to historic La Merced Church, where you may climb the bell tower for a panoramic view of Colonial Granada, (climb is optional).

Duration:  6 hours

Tour includes:  Transportation from Hacienda Puerta del Cielo to Granada and the Port, as well as, boat transportation and bell tower entrance fees.  Lunch and refreshments are not included in the price.  This is a guided tour.
